Miami Taste Of Brickell Food And Wine Festival To Benefit Kristi ...

OK, we all know Ultra Music Festival and Winter Music Conference have been storming Miami at top speed this week, but if you already got your fill of the action or are looking for a more-chilled yet equally entertaining locals scene this weekend, the Brickell Food and Wine Festival is where it?s at. As someone who loves good wine surrounded by good food, and best of all, good people, I can?t wait for this weekend?s festival held in my very own backyard on Brickell Bay Drive. The outdoor event overlooking Biscayne Bay takes place Saturday and Sunday, March 24-25.

The line-up of restaurants participating this year is astonishing: Mare Nostrum, AltaMare, Scalina, El Gran Inka,? Mint Leaf,?Atrio (Conrad?s Restaurant & Wine Room), Perricone?s, Bon Frommage,?Le Boudoir and Chop House are just some of the sponsors already making my mouth water.

Tasty samplings from local restaurants will be delightfully available for $1-$8 portions. Food and drink tickets can be purchased with $1/ticket.

What?s the best feature this year? Well, there?s a couple highlights. But let?s start with a $35 bracelet that grants you access to unlimited wine, beer and champagne at the International Wine & Beer Crafters Tent sponsored by Gordon Biersch and Dolores Lolita. The tent will also feature cigar rolling by Cigar Masters made by La Gloria Cubana Cigars.

What?s more, Whole Foods and Macy?s are sponsoring the One World International VIP Tent, where you can sample all the culinary styles you want from Greece, Italy, Ireland, Peru and Spain until that global gourmet part of your heart is content. This unlimited food, wine and spirits from around the world is yours for the taking at only $100 a ticket. Even cooler this year: the VIP section is located outside this time, so you won?t feel cramped by the interior space, nor confined by concrete walls. Oh no no, this year you?ll be sampling the festival?s finest spirits and wines out in the open fresh air, under the shaded VIP tent just one step away from the sunshine (or moonlight depending how late you stay).

The One World International VIP Pass is $175 for two days or $100 for one full day. It comes with 10 food/drink tickets to sample on-site restaurants and also grants you access to the International Wine & Beer Crafters Tent ($35 value).

The fun doesn?t stop there! Exhale Spa will be offering free chair massage and express manicures. A Kid Zone will keep your little ones entertained and a wildlife exhibit with live flamingos is sure to get some heads turned. Kids under 13 must be accompanied by a guardian.

For the health nuts out there (I?m one of them), you can try a new energy drink called Activate, and there will be plenty of Fiji water for sale to keep us hydrated.?Bring your sunglasses! And get ready to have fun with the locals this weekend? and by all means, walk to the event! Parking is limited.

Launched in March 2011 by Cynthia Bettner in partnership with Brickell?s finest restaurants and the Brickell Homeowners Association, the Miami Taste of Brickell Food and Wine Festival benefits the Kristi House. The Kristi House provides a healing environment for all child victims of sexual abuse and their families, regardless of income. Visit www.kristihouse.org for more information.

The organizers regret that no pets will be allowed (it?s an insurance thing), except for handicap assist dogs.
